Many complications can influence where your house sits. Simplify your project with the excavation experts.
Excavation is the very first stage of your construction project. Rigorous planning takes into account the required depth, the nature of the soil, the presence of rock, the water table level and how accessible the site is.
Before starting, it is essential to locate the underground services (electricity, telephone, gas) and to respect the setbacks required by the municipality. At this stage it is strongly recommended to use the services of a land surveyor in order to make sure the siting complies with the municipality's standards.
Every site has its own characteristics. Faced with loose or waterlogged soil, we excavate deeper in order to replace the unstable ground with firmly compacted granular material. Conversely, if we hit a vein of rock, our team deploys the necessary equipment (blasting or a hydraulic breaker) to continue the work without interruption.
Our mini excavators on rubber tracks reach spaces as narrow as 36 inches without damaging your property, which is ideal for backyards, gaps between houses and city lots.
Once the siting is confirmed, the excavation work can begin. As a rule, this stage takes only a single day. If your project calls for it, we also dig the trenches needed for the municipal service connections. In order to protect your future foundations against frost and unstable ground, the digging depth is carefully matched to the nature of your soil.
Some soils on a property may unfortunately be contaminated. In some cases this contamination can be linked to hydrocarbons, such as heating oil, or to the presence of heavy metals.
Following a visit from a soil engineer, our team can excavate the contaminated soil, then handle its transport and disposal at an appropriate treatment centre.
This service covers the excavation work required when contaminated soil has to be removed as part of a residential, commercial or construction project.
